Correlation between inactivation of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid & cessation of callus growth in bean stem sections.

چکیده
In a previous publication (1) we have described an in vitro system for studying the callus growth on bean stem sections which is initiated by applying relatively high concentrations of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). Only short exposure to 2,4-D was necessary to initiate the callus growth. Since this growth is not tumorous in nature and therefore not auxin autonomous, it will continue only as long as there is a supply of the growth inducing material still present in the tissue. It was of interest, therefore, to follow the fate of C14-labeled 2,4-D in this system and to attempt to correlate it with the data on callus growth. This paper will report the results of these experiments.

Establishment of the regeneration system for Vicia faba L.
A reliable regeneration system for faba bean has been difficult to establish and therefore, the genetic improvement of Vicia faba L. was delayed. The paper describes a method of somatic embryo induction in callus of V. faba. Two Egyptian faba bean cultivars 'Giza 2' and '24 Hyto' were used. Callus was induced from epicotyls and shoot tips cultured on MS or Gamborg medium supplemented with 3% su...
متن کاملEffects of explant type and growth regulators on callus induction in four ecotypes of Persian shallot
Allium hirtifolium commonly known as Persian shallot is an important wild medicinal plant distributed from North West to central and South West of Iran. To establish an efficient protocol for callus induction, the effects of explant type and growth regulators on callus induction in four ecotypes of Persian shallot were evaluated. Two explants types included basal plates and young leave...

The objective of this research was in-vitro germination and callus induction of Onosma bulbotrichum (O. bulbotrichum) as a medicinal herb which belongs to Boraginaceae family. For germination, the seedswere cultured on growth regulator-free MS medium and for callus induction, seeds were sown on modified MS medium containing different concentrations of kinetin (kn)- Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) an...
